APC is no doubt is one the best UPS system manufacturer but its seems quite weird that when you install APC Powerchute, it automatically disables default windows power icon and setting.
I just like to use my desktop as laptop bettery setting and options.
Here is how you can re-enable that icon and setting.
Problem: Powerchute just replace default battery driver (HID UPS battery) to APC Battery which needs to be removed.
- Plug the RJ45 to USB cable between the UPS data port and the Computer USB port
- Go to Device Manager
- Remove the cable (device manager will re-populate)
- Then add the usb cable (device manager will re-populate)...then keep an eye for the new device added.
- Then you want to right click on it, hit uninstall (Select option to remove software from computer)
- It will remove it
- Then reconnect the USB cable and it will try to re-install all the drivers needed.
